As part of the state’s Love our Waterways campaign, Tangipahoa Parish Government will host a waterway clean up in Manchac on the last Saturday in September.
Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller said Keep Tangipahoa Beautiful is spearheading the “South Pass Clean Up,” which is scheduled on Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 8 a.m. until noon in Manchac.
Co-sponsors include Keep Louisiana Beautiful and the Manchac Boating Association.
“It’s been a busy summer on the waterways, and we want to do our part to remove trash and debris from South Pass and surrounding areas,” Miller said.
The state’s Love Our Waterways initiative is designed to reduce litter every step of the way before it reaches the Gulf. Love Our Waterways also helps protect fish and wildlife habitat, improve water quality and preserve the natural beauty of Louisiana. The September initiative builds on the success of Louisiana’s Love the Boot Week and encourages residents, businesses, schools, civic organizations, outdoor groups and families to take an active role in removing litter and protecting Louisiana’s waterways. More than 260 cleanup events have now been registered statewide, demonstrating the growing momentum behind the effort.
