AMITE—Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller announced that all parish offices will close at noon today (Monday, January 8, 2024) in anticipation of severe weather forecast for this afternoon and into the overnight hours.
The parish landfill will remain open.
Miller said the National Weather Service advised that there are two lines of severe weather expected to impact our area. The first is forecast for early afternoon, to be followed by a second round of severe weather after dark.
Damaging winds, heavy rainfall, and a risk of tornado activity are possible. Miller encouraged residents to take precautions by securing any lightweight yard items and insuring that storm drains are clear of debris.
Miller said the inaugural ceremony scheduled for the Tangipahoa Parish President and Parish Council will go on as planned at 3 p.m. at the Florida Parishes Arena Event Center today. The Parish Council meeting set for 5:30 p.m. is also going to be held this evening.
