Tangipahoa Parish Receives Grants for Litter Enforcement Cameras, Beautification Project

AMITE—Enforcement cameras are on the way, as Tangipahoa Parish once again steps up efforts to combat litter and illegal dumping.

Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller said the parish has received a $4,050 grant from Keep Louisiana Beautiful to purchase cameras to be placed in areas that have been deemed litter “hot spots” across the parish.

“Our parish will not be a dumping ground,” Miller said, adding that these cameras will be a critical “next step” in the fight against litter.

Miller said signs will be posted in hot spots to remind the public that littering will not be tolerated.

In addition to the grant for the hot spot cameras, the Weyerhaeuser Giving Fund has awarded the parish with a grant for beautification and landscaping supplies for the Kentwood area. The parish will coordinate with the Town of Kentwood to schedule a project work day in the next few weeks.

Community organizations can contact Keep Tangipahoa Beautiful coordinator Ginger Tastet at (985) 748-3211 to volunteer for this or any other upcoming beautification projects in the new year.
