Here is an update concerning the severe weather threat today and tomorrow:
Changes from previous update: The threat of severe weather has stayed the same for both days.
WHAT: MARGINAL RISK of Severe Weather
WHEN: This afternoon and evening as well as tomorrow morning.
WHERE: Most of SE LA and S MS today and along the I-10/12 corridor east of I-55 for tomorrow.
CONFIDENCE: We are confident there will be thunderstorms across the area in which a few will be strong to severe.
Impacts: The main threats associated with any severe storms will be:
- Damaging Winds: Wind gusts greater than 60 mph are possible. Winds of this magnitude are capable of causing damage to trees and power lines, leading to isolated/scattered power outages
- Rainfall: In addition to the severe weather threat, rainfall of 1 to 2 inches is forecast over the next 48 hours. There is a medium chance of local amounts 4 inches or more.
