Roseland Incident Response Update: October 13, 2025

Progress continues on the Roseland Incident Response. Through early Monday morning, we can report the following updates:

  • EPA continues on-the-ground outreach in Tangipahoa Parish, with updated times and locations for community office hours supporting residents affected by the Smitty’s Supply fire.   • Recovery occurred at six recovery points on Ponds D-1, D-2, D-3, and D-4 overnight on Sunday. After decanting operations were completed, oil recovery operations began on Pond D-4.
  • EPA is using multiple skimmers to maximize efficiency in recovery, including felt drum skimmers and rope mop skimmers. There were 17 skimmers operating overnight.
  • An open water area of approximately 50X50 was observed for the first time on Pond D-3.
  • A total of 13 vacuum trucks operated overnight Sunday at the ponds for oily waste recovery. Total estimated volume of recovery based on 24 truckloads is 60,480 gallons.
  • The Facility Branch continued decanting operations at Pond D-4. Overnight crews decanted approximately 12,000 gallons from one frac tank.
  • On Monday, October 13, EPA will hold office hours at the Dollar General stores in Amite and Roseland.
