Roseland Incident Response Update: October 10, 2025

Progress continues on the Roseland Incident Response. Through Friday morning, we can report the following updates:

  • Recovery occurred at Ponds D-1, D-2, and D-3 overnight. At Pond D-4, minimal amounts of recoverable oil were detected, so night operations were discontinued at approximately 9 p.m.
  • EPA is using multiple skimmers to maximize efficiency in recovery including felt drum skimmers and rope mop skimmers. There were 16 skimmers operating overnight.
  • 7 vacuum trucks were operating Thursday night at the ponds for oily waste recovery. Total estimated volume of recovery is 50,400 gallons (20 truckloads).
  • Crews started excavation of LA 10 ditch with stockpiling and oily water removal operations. Approximately 14,500 gallons of oily water were decanted from two frac tanks.
  • The south ditch along US 51 was pumped down using a fixed pump for approximately 5.040 gallons removed.
  • On Friday, EPA will have office hours at the Ponchatoula Library, the Dollar General store in Roseland, and the Loranger High School football game.
  • LDEQ continues to conduct ambient air monitoring with the Mobile Air Monitoring Laboratory near the Ponchatoula Fire Department. There has been no change in air monitoring readings through early Friday.
