The National Weather Service says there is a MARGINAL RISK of excessive rainfall and a MARGINAL RISK of severe weather in the forecast today.
WHEN: Lasting through the morning hours, then another round later this evening into overnight hours.
WHERE: All of Southeast Louisiana and Southern Mississippi
CONFIDENCE: High confidence that widespread moderate to heavy rainfall will move through the area today, but there is lower confidence that this will cause major flooding impacts. There is lower confidence in severe storms.
IMPACTS: The mail threats associated with any severe storms will be:
- Wind gusts greater than 60 mph;
- A couple tornadoes;
- Rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches is forecast with locally higher amounts possible starting today and lasting into early tomorrow;
- Rainfall could lead to ponding of water in low-lying areas and areas of poor drainage;
- Isolated areas of localized flash-flooding possible.
