Heavy Rainfall, Severe Weather Forecast Thru Friday, Dec. 1

WHAT:  SLIGHT RISK and MARGINAL RISK of excessive rainfall and MARGINAL RISK Severe Weather.

WHEN: For the excessive rainfall today and Friday and the severe weather risk Friday.

WHERE:  For the slight risk mainly areas west of Baton Rouge, the marginal risk of heavy rainfall and severe storms remains for the rest of Southeast LA and Southern MS.

CONFIDENCE: High confidence that widespread moderate to heavy rainfall will move through the area today and Friday but there is low confidence that this will cause major flooding impacts. There is low confidence in severe storms Friday.

IMPACTS: The main threats associated with any severe storms will be:

  • Wind gusts greater than 60 mph
  • A few tornadoes.
  • Large hail.
  • Rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches is forecast with locally higher amounts possible starting today through the weekend.
  • This rainfall could lead to ponding of water in low lying areas and areas of poor drainage.
