Civil Engineer

Tangipahoa Parish Government is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our Team. The Parish Engineer is responsible for overseeing professional engineering work and administrative tasks and working with consultants on the design, hydrology, investigation, and construction of roads, utilities, groundwater and wastewater treatment systems, and other public works projects. This includes ensuring proper oversight of project activities, assisting in preparing plans and specifications and managing the overall execution of assigned projects to ensure they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required standards.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.

Certification / License: Must possess and maintain an Engineering License from the state of Louisiana.

Five years of increasingly responsible professional civil engineering experience OR any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Must have a valid Driver’s License and MVR.

Must be able to travel to satellite office locations as needed.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Pre-employment drug testing is required, and employees will be subject to unannounced alcohol and drug testing as a condition of continued employment.

Tree Trimmer

The Tangipahoa Parish Government is searching for experienced candidates for the position of tree trimmer. To join our growing team, please review the list of responsibilities and qualifications. The Parish

tree trimmer will maintain mature trees and remove dead or diseased trees for the parish.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 High school diploma or GED, or any combination of education and experience that would provide the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge, and ability required to perform the job.

 3+ years of proven experience

 Must have a valid Driver’s License or CDL and MVR.

 Knowledge of workplace safety and risk assessment for proper length, width, and shape

 Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and heavy machinery for pruning, shearing, or spraying trees

 Knowledge and experience in the operation of bucket trucks, chippers, chainsaws, and other equipment

 Able to climb, work at heights, and lift 50+ pounds

 Great attention to detail, positive attitude, and strong work ethic

Tangipahoa Voluntary Council on Aging (TVCOA) is seeking qualified candidates to fill 2 full-time and 2 part-time Bus Driver positions. Applicants must have the following:

  • Valid Chauffeur’s License
  • 21 years of age or older
  • A clean driving record and capability of being insured
  • Pass a Pre-Employment Drug and Alcohol Test
  • Familiarity with Excel and general computer functions

Job Responsibilities:

  • Complete daily pre-trip inspections of their assigned vehicles, complete daily trip logs, and monthly reports.
  • Drivers are assigned routes within Tangipahoa Parish, which may change day-to-day. A schedule of pick-up and drop-off points will be provided daily.

Benefits:

  • $12.00/hour starting pay, with the probability of an increase each July (dependent on funding).
  • 12 paid Holidays per year
  • 1 day of Sick Leave per month
  • Vacation Leave:
    • 5 days, after 1 year
    • 10 days, after 2 years
    • 15 days, 3-10 years
    • 20 days, after 10 years
