Strader Cieutat

Strader Dufreche Cieutat is serving her first term as Tangipahoa Parish Councilwoman for District 10 and is a lifelong resident of Ponchatoula.  Strader is the daughter of Janet Cortez Dufreche and the late Julian Dufreche.  She is a proud graduate of St. Joseph Catholic School, Ponchatoula High School, and Southeastern Louisiana University where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and a Plus 30 Graduate Hours Degree.  Mrs. Cieutat has been employed with the Tangipahoa Parish School System for over two decades and was a former teacher and assistant principal.  Presently, she serves as the school system’s Parent Advocate, Parent Family Engagement Contact, and Homebound Contact. 

Taking an active role in the community is important to Strader. She is currently Vice President of the Hammond Area Republican Women’s Club, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #5, and a board member of the Tangipahoa Republican Parish Executive Committee. Strader served in many capacities and on several committees while her children attended St. Joseph Catholic School including President of the Home & School Board, Co-sponsor for the 4-H Club, girls’ volleyball coach, Spring Fair Committee Member, and Athletic Board Chairman.  She also spent many years on the United Way SELA Leadership Council, coached girls’ volleyball at PARD, and was a member of the TPSS Vision 2020 Committee.  Strader will use her knowledge and experience in administrative leadership to help achieve the shared goals of the residents of District 10.  She looks forward to working with everyone in the Ponchatoula community to help preserve the integrity, charm, and identity of her hometown while protecting its natural resources and building upon its infrastructure to improve citizen’s quality of living. Strader hopes to use her role as an educator and a councilwoman to bring forth initiatives that enhance the standard of living for our senior citizens, veterans, and families across the parish.

She is married to her high school sweetheart, Johnny, and they are the proud parents of two daughters.  The Cieutat family is active in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church where Strader is a member of the Family Commission Ministry.  She is honored to serve the residents of District 10 and pledges to act with integrity, honesty, and passion during her tenure on the council.
