ROBERT — Due to extreme rain this evening, Chemekette Road from LA 445 to the curve at Camp Chemekette in Robert is closed to all but local traffic.
Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller said local rains have created an emergency road closure situation on Chemekette, and the roadway will be closed to all non-local traffic starting at 8:45 p.m., on Monday, July 28, and continuing until further notice.
Miller said Barriere Contractors are on standby to grade the road bed to drain and dry the roadway, which was inundated with rainwater on Monday evening.
Parish officials urge motorists to take alternate routes if at all possible and encouraged local traffic to utilize extreme caution if traveling in the area Monday night.
