As of today (Friday, August 29), the following tasks are complete:
- Approximately 1,144,122 gallons of product retrieved to this point
- 1,116,612 gallons from the site
- 27,510 gallons from the water
- 577 bails of absorbent boom deployed
- 352 bails of absorbent pads deployed
- There were no overnight flare-ups with the fire. There was also no need to spray water at the scene overnight Thursday.
- Skimmers have been added to the other recovery efforts along the river.
- There has been no change in air monitoring readings.
- Environmental response and remediation teams are working from LA 40 at Serenity Sands and south to capture product in Tangipahoa River. Motorists can expect one-lane flagged traffic over bridges where teams are working.
