The following is an update from the National Weather Service:
Cold Weather:
- A Freeze Warning is in effect for areas near or north of I-10/12 in SE LA and portions of southern MS from 1AM to 8AM CT Thursday due to sub-freezing temperatures as low as 30 expected.
Wind:
- A Wind Advisory remains in effect for portions of the southshore and coastal SE LA thru 9AM due to winds 20 to 30 mph and gusts up to 40 mph.
- Gale-force winds continue across all marine zones this morning, with a Gale Warning through 9AM CT. Waves/seas will remain elevated thru the evening hours.
Confidence:
- There is medium to high confidence that there will be several hours of near or sub-freezing temperatures Thursday morning in the freeze warning area.
Impacts:
- Check on the elderly, protect sensitive vegetation and bring pets in from the outdoors or supply adequate shelter and blankets if possible.
