Parish Continues Anti- Litter and Beautification Programs

Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller recently announced continuing efforts for litter abatement and beautification projects using local and various grant funds by the Parish. Working together with the Keep Louisiana Beautiful (KLB) program and recent litter supply grants, the Parish litter abatement staff, municipalities, non-profit organizations, volunteers, and the local Keep Tangipahoa Beautiful Committee, the Parish has increased its activities in a three-part effort to mitigate litter in the Parish. This program includes 1) education and awareness; 2) enforcement, and 3) abatement/reduction. Recent clean-up litter abatement efforts resulted in 292 large bags of litter being picked up with 304 volunteer hours of effort in various locations throughout Tangipahoa Parish. The additional litter supplies provided by KLB were an important part of with clean-up effort.

The Parish and its Keep Tangipahoa Beautiful Committee will continue to coordinate many projects throughout the years, and Parish President Miller encourages any groups or individuals to call Ms. Ginger Tastet at 985 748-3211 should they want to volunteer their organization for an upcoming litter clean-up event or for projects in their area.
