Tangipahoa’s TRACC (Tangipahoa Reshaping Attitudes for Community Change) Coalition has received a Blue Ribbon Award from the National Youth Substance Use Prevention Summit in Washington, D.C.
The award recognizes TRACC for their outstanding work to prevent youth substance use and help ensure that our young people are able to lead healthy, fulfilling lives.
“Drug-Free Community Coalitions are an essential part of our whole-of-society efforts to address the overdose epidemic to save lives,” said White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) Director Dr. Rahul Gupta. “I am grateful to the Blue Ribbon Coalitions awardees, like the TRACC Coalition, who are leading the way in expanding critical evidence-based prevention efforts and addressing youth substance use so that all young Americans can live healthy, fulfilling lives.”
Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller said this is just one more example of the great work that #TeamTangi is doing for our community.
“Our TRACC Coalition has been recognized on the national level twice this year, and I cannot be more proud of the work this group is doing to ensure the citizens of Tangipahoa Parish–and especially our youth–are empowered to live healthy, drug-free lives,” Miller said. “This Blue Ribbon recognition is just one more example of how Tangipahoa is leading the way and why we truly are the best parish in the state!”
The TRACC Coalition was one of 15 Drug-Free Community Coalitions from across the country receiving a Blue Ribbon Award. There are over 12,000 local coalitions working hard every day to reduce substance use in our communities. The Blue Ribbon Coalition Award recognizes high performing coalitions that do an exceptional job creating a foundation for their work by utilizing their coalition’s collective power to bring about positive change to their communities. It is a two-year recognition that opens new doors for coalitions to share their work and become a role model in the prevention field.
