LORANGER—Detours will be posted on five local roadways Monday and Tuesday so Louisiana DOTD can conduct routine inspections of several local bridges.
Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller said parish Road and Bridge crews will assist DOTD in barricading the bridges and helping detour traffic during these inspections. All work is weather-permitting.
Detours are scheduled as follows:
- On Monday, June 12, Chappapella Road will be closed from 9 a.m. until approximately 11:30 a.m. Then crews will close Green Farm Road starting at 1 p.m.
- On Tuesday, June 13, crews will close Woodstone Drive starting at 9 a.m. At 11 a.m., inspectors will be working on South Coburn Road, which will be closed for approximately one hour.
In addition to the DOTD bridge inspections, parish crews will be changing cross drains on two roadways in the Independence area midweek. As a result, Richardson Road will be closed at a point just east of the R&M Hunting Club on Wednesday, June 14, and Old US Hwy 51 will be closed near the northern intersection of Holden Circle Road, on Thursday, June 15. Detours will be posted from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. each day, and no thru-traffic will be allowed in the work zone while the cross drain installation is in progress.
Phase 2023 road overlay work that is scheduled during the week of June 12 includes:
- Milling: Straughan Nursery, Nuccio, Thomas Street, McManus, J.E. Joiner (asphalt section), Chappapeela Road, Pinecrest Drive;
- Patching: Pisciotta Place, J.E. Joiner, Magee Street, Mandela, Straughan Nursery, Nuncio, Thomas Street, McManus, Chappapeela Road, Pinecrest Drive, and Magee Street;
- Paving: Stateline Road, West Cutrer Road, Brock Road, Cutrer Road, Pine Street, East 8th Street, East Alessi, and Catfish Road;
- Cut Cement: J.E. Joiner (gravel section)
All work is weather-permitting. Miller asks motorists to continue to use caution in work zones.
