TPG Road Work: Week of July 28; Crossover Road Closure July 29-31

INDEPENDENCE — A portion of Crossover Road will be closed for three days next week as Tangipahoa Parish road crews complete a bridge project.
Parish President Robby Miller said Crossover Road will be closed at the timber bridge, which is located approximately one-quarter mile north of Robertson Road in Independence. Weather permitting, the closure will begin at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29, and the detour will remain in effect until Thursday, July 31, at 6 p.m.
No traffic will be allowed through the closure area during this three day period. Signs are posted and motorists will be detoured accordingly.
Miller said that in addition to the bridge repair, Barriere Construction will continue performing work on the Phase 2025 road overlay project. The following tasks are scheduled during the week of July 28:
  • Shoulder Dressing: South I-12 Service Road, Whiskey Lane, New Genessee, Arbordale, Chappapeela, Woodstone, and East Park;
  • Soil Cement Operations: Chemeketee Road, Frank Lane, Jaelyn Drive, Baytown Hills, Company Town, and Johnson Holton Road.
  • Preliminary Patching: Gemstone Place and Chemeketee Road.
Miller said all work is weather permitting and motorists can expect intermittent delays in construction zones.
