Heading into the last half of August, Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller says the parish’s Phase 2025 overlay program is more than halfway complete.
“We estimate we’re approximately 60-65 percent complete with this year’s overlay program,” Miller said. “We’ve been blessed with good weather, and the crews from Barriere Construction are doing a good job of working around any of the afternoon thunderstorms that we’ve experienced in recent weeks.”
During the week of August 18, crews are scheduled to work in the following areas:
- Shoulder Dressing: Gemstone, Chemekette, Jaelyn, Frank, South I-12 Service Road, Whiskey Lane, New Genessee, Arbordale, Old Covington, Chappapeela, Holly Drive, Woodstone, Oak Hollow, Mandella, Perry, and West Martin Luther King;
- Paving: South Lewiston, North Peckerwood, and Duncan Avenue;
- Soil Cement: Baytown Hills, Company Town, Brown Road (Village of Tangipahoa), and Johnson Holton Road.
All work is weather-permitting, and motorists can expect intermittent delays in construction zones.
In addition to the Phase 2025 road work, Miller reminds motorists that a portion of Floyd Lavigne Road will be closed approximately 500 feet from the intersection of South Thibodeaux Road on Monday, August 18. Crews will be completing a cross drain project, and the roadway will closed from approximately 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. No traffic will be allowed through the work zone.
