PONCHATOULA—Tangipahoa Parish Government in partnership with the City of Ponchatoula recently completed work on a new handicapped-accessible sidewalk project in Ponchatoula.
Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller said the South 7th Street and Southwest Railroad Avenue sidewalk project was designed to connect the public transit route with Kiwanis Park, local schools, and the West Pine Street (LA 22) areas.
Miller said the project was completed over a seven-month timeframe and was secured through federal transit grant funds and an allocation from the City of Ponchatoula. Byron Talbot was the contractor, in coordination with DDG Engineers, parish and city inspectors.
Miller said the Parish Council is expected to declare the project substantially complete at an upcoming meeting.
