HAMMOND—Starting Monday, Jan. 3, the Tangipahoa Parish Transit System will again begin operating its fixed-route bus service inside the city limits of Hammond and Ponchatoula.

Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller said the service, which is offered in partnership with the cities and Tangipahoa Parish Government via the Tangipahoa Parish Voluntary Council on Aging, is open to all citizens in need of transportation.

The cost is 50 cents per trip. Bus routes and the schedule for stops will be posted on each city’s website as well as on Tangipahoa.org, Miller said.

Hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Buses are equipped to serve all riders, including those who are mobility impaired. At this time, federal transportation guidelines require all riders to wear face masks due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Miller said.
