AMITE—With heavy rain in the forecast, Tangipahoa Parish officials are rescinding the local burn ban.
On Friday, Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller issued a memorandum, authorizing the parish to rescind the burn ban.
Miller said local fire chiefs agree that it will be safe for the parish to lift the order at this time.
“I reserve the right to reinstate the ban at a later date, if conditions warrant,” Miller said.
Miller strongly urges citizens to not leave fires unattended. He also recommends that residents continue to use caution when burning and to keep a water source or fire extinguisher nearby.
