AMITE—Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller announced that all parish offices, including the Tangipahoa Parish Landfill will be closed on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, in anticipation of severe weather related to Hurricane Francine.
Forecasters anticipate damaging winds, heavy rainfall, and a risk of tornado activity related to the storm, which is expected to make landfall tomorrow. Miller encouraged residents to take precautions by securing any lightweight yard items and insuring that storm drains are clear of debris.
Miller said the parish will assess conditions late Wednesday to determine any future closures. The landfill will operate with extended hours this Saturday, September 14, from 7 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., Miller said.
The parish has filed an emergency declaration, effective today (Tuesday, Sept. 10) in anticipation of the storm’s arrival.
