Short-Term Hazardous Weather Update: March 31, 2025

Here is an update concerning the severe weather threat this morning:

Overview:

WHAT:  SLIGHT RISK/ENHANCED RISK of Severe Weather

WHEN: Now through midday/early afternoon

CONFIDENCE: High that a line of strong to severe storms will move across the area this morning and through midday. Storms are already approaching southwest MS and Pointe Coupee Parish and warnings will likely be issued in the next hour or two.

Tornado watch has already been issued for southwest Ms and all of SE LA till 11am. An additional watch is expected later this morning to include coastal MS and Pearl River county. 

Hazards:

  • Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph
  • Isolated large hail to 2 inches in diameter 
  • A few tornadoes 
  • Locally heavy rain with up to 2 inches in an hour
