Overview:
WHAT: ENHANCED RISK of Severe Weather and HEAT ADVISORY

WHEN: STORMS: First round will be now through noon today. The second round is expected between 6 p.m. and midnight. HEAT ADVISORY: 11 a.m. through 7 p.m.

WHERE: STORMS: Most impacts should be found mainly along and north of a line from Angola to Slidell into the gulf waters. HEAT ADVISORY: All but immediate coastal sections of SELA

CONFIDENCE: Low confidence in severe storms during the morning hours. But High confidence in severe storms this evening. Low confidence in heat index values getting up to 110.

Impacts: The main threats associated with any severe storms will be:

  • Damaging Winds: Wind gusts greater than 50 mph will be possible.
  • Large Hail: Large hail 1 inch or greater in diameter will be possible. Wind blown hail could cause additional damage.
  • Heavy Rain: Storms today will be capable of heavy rainfall with rates of 2 to 4 inches per hour.
  • Heat: Heat Index values between 105-110 during the afternoon/early evening could cause health issues.
