Here is an update concerning the severe weather threat for Saturday, March 8, 2025.
Overview:
WHAT: MARGINAL RISK of Severe Weather
WHEN: During the day on Saturday, especially afternoon and early evening
WHERE: All of Southeast Louisiana and Southern Mississippi
CONFIDENCE: We are confident that there will be thunderstorms across the area, and that a few will have the potential to become strong to marginally severe. Confidence in exact timing and location are a bit lower in terms of confidence.
Impacts: The main threats associated with any severe storms will be:
Damaging Winds:
- Wind gusts up to 60 mph are possible in the strongest storms.
- Winds of this magnitude are capable of causing damage to trees and power lines, leading to isolated/scattered power outages
Large Hail:
- Large hail of up to one inch in diameter will be possible.
- Hail of this size is capable of causing damage to crops, vehicles as well as causing injury to people and animals if caught outdoors.
Tornadoes:
- A tornado or two will be possible during the afternoon hours.
- Tornado risk is very conditional for Saturday.
