WHAT: MARGINAL RISK of Severe Weather and Heavy Rainfall
WHEN: This afternoon to around midnight tonight.
WHERE: All of SE LA and S MS for heavy rainfall and areas along and south of I-10 for severe weather
CONFIDENCE:
- Confidence with the potential for severe weather in the Marginal Risk areas is higher across the immediate coast, with lower confidence farther inland where it will likely be all-rain. However, the northward extent will be closely monitored.
Impacts:
The main threats associated with any severe storms will be:
Damaging Winds:
- Wind gusts greater than 60 mph will be possible
- Trees and powerlines could be damaged and lead to isolated/scattered power outages
Tornadoes:
- A few waterspouts/tornadoes will be possible
Rainfall:
- In addition to the severe weather threat, rainfall of 0.5 to 1.5 inches is forecast with locally higher amounts possible.
- This rainfall could lead to ponding of water in low lying areas and areas of poor drainage.
