PUBLIC NOTICE OF HOMETOWN REVITALIZATION AND RESILIENT COMMUNITIES’ INFRASTRUCTURE GRANT PROGRAMS 3rd ALLOCATION- PUBLIC INPUT TANGIPAHOA PARISH GOVERNMENT

Tangipahoa Parish Government is soliciting public input in order to gather public questions or comments prior to submitting the Parish’s proposed future application(s) for State Office of Community Development (OCD) grant funds in a supplemental 3rd allocation of $10,187,020.28 that can be obligated to the Parish for approved projects after State approval of the Parish grant project proposals and applications. The public is invited to review project summaries and encouraged to provide comments. The program summary also provides at least the following:

 

  • The amount of funds available for proposed community and economic development and infrastructure projects through the two program allocations;
  • The range of activities that may be undertaken, including the estimated amount of funds proposed to be used for activities that will benefit persons of low to moderate income, blight reduction, or urgent needs;
  • The plans of the Parish for minimizing displaced persons as a result of activities assisted with such funds and the benefits that could be provided by the Parish to persons actually displaced as a result of such activities;
  • The Parish’s past performance on similar HUD or CDBG projects funded by the State or Federal government;
  • The proposed grant projects that the Parish is submitting, including any impacts to minority, low-moderate income populations, or non-English speaking persons.

 

Current list of possible projects: Landfill Sewerage Connection and Treatment at Regional Landfill, Citizens Drop-off Area at Parish Landfill, West Mulberry St. Extension, Repair or Replacement of Bridges (local match funds), Florida Parishes Arena new multi-purpose building with parking, Improvements to Community Multi-Purpose Building-Independence, Sidewalk Improvements local match (Amite to Arena), Hano Road Rehabilitation Project, GIS Master Plan, Permanent Generators, Historic Commercial Districts Revitalization, Jail Improvements.

 

Residents may submit written comments or questions up to 3 PM on Friday, February 16th, 2024 to the Tangipahoa Parish Government, attention to Kevin Tzeng, at P.O. Box 215, Amite, La. 70422, or at [email protected]. or may call him at (985) 748-3211. Also, a public input meeting will be held in Amite at the Gordon Burgess building, 206 E. Mulberry St.in the Council Chambers at 5:30 pm on February 15th, 2024. The public is invited to attend and to ask questions or comments. Special accommodation for access for handicapped or disadvantaged or non-English speaking persons can be provided if needed by contracting the above Parish contact person at least 24 hours in advance of the public meeting.
