Proclamation of Emergency Closure for a Portion of Tangipahoa River in Tangipahoa Parish

WHEREAS, the Parish of Tangipahoa has declared that the Tangipahoa River from Highway 10 to Highway 22, and any connecting navigable waterways are closed effective IMMEDIATELY, Sunday, August 24, 2025, to ALL marine traffic aside from booming and emergency activities, until further notice, due to the Smitty’s Supply Inc. incident, and;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Dawson Primes, Tangipahoa Parish Director of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, do hereby proclaim emergency closures to the Tangipahoa River from Highway 10 to Highway 22, and any connecting navigable waterways; and

NOW THEREFORE, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office as well as Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries will be patrolling these areas and issuing fines to all violators.
