PONCHATOULA—A portion of Sharon Road will be closed Tuesday, September 26, 2023.
Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller said Sharon Road will be closed at its intersection with Sisters Road starting at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 26. Crews will be replacing a cross drain, and no traffic will be allowed while construction is underway. Miller said the roadway is expected to reopen at or around 2 p.m. that day.
In addition to this maintenance project, Phase 2023 overlay work continues across the parish. This week, crews will be paving Tina Drive, Oak Meadows, and Corbin Road, while dressing work is scheduled on the following streets:
- West Portier Road
- Hollie Lane
- Loyd Road
- Miller Lane
- Tina Drive
- Recile Lane
- Graceland Road
- Corbin Road
- Oak Meadows
- Magnolia Banks
- Ruby Oaks Court
- Oak Creek Trace
- Weald Way
- Holly Drive
- George Road
This week motorists can also expect a big change at the intersection of South Airport/Hoover/Sisters Road. The four-way stop at that intersection will be transformed into a roundabout traffic pattern starting this Thursday, Sept. 28. Temporary signs, barricades, striping, and cones will direct traffic around the new configuration. Miller asks motorists to drive slowly and exercise patience while maneuvering through the new circle, as crews will be working in and around the lanes of traffic to complete curb and gutter work.
Miller said DOTD’s scheduled closure of Randall Road has been postponed. Originally set to begin on Monday, the project has been pushed back several days. A new start date will be announced shortly.
