LORANGER—A portion of Chappapeela Road will be closed for soil boring operations during the week of March 3-7.
Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller said crews will be on site collecting soil boring information at the three bridges on the eastern end of Chappapeela Road near the intersection of LA 445.
“In order to safely collect this data, which will be used to design the replacement of these three bridges, we will close the section of the roadway from the west side of the bridges to LA 445 between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. each of those days,” Miller said.
Miller said the work zone includes no residential properties, and because the work is being done during the schools’ Mardi Gras holidays, crews will be able to stage and utilize additional equipment to make this process move as quickly as possible.
“While the closure will create an inconvenience for travelers next week, we hope the public recognizes that our longterm goal is to upgrade what are basically two single-lane bridges by expanding those spans and create a much safer route for motorists in this high-traffic area,” Miller said.
