Severe Weather Update: April 27, 2026

Here is an update concerning the severe weather threat Wednesday:

WHAT: MARGINAL RISK of Severe Weather

WHEN: Wednesday afternoon to Wednesday evening

WHERE: Essentially the entire area of southeast Louisiana and south Mississippi is covered by this messaging (see map in graphic below).

CONFIDENCE: We are confident that there will be thunderstorms across the area and that a few will be strong to marginally severe.  We have less confidence in exactly where those strong/severe storms will occur.

Impacts: The main threats associated with any strong to severe storms will be:

  • Damaging Winds: Isolated wind gusts greater than 60 mph are possible. Winds of this magnitude are capable of causing damage to trees and weaker structures/buildings.
  • Large Hail: Isolated hail of up to quarter size in diameter will be possible.
