DOTD Plans Alternate Lane Closures on Old Genessee on May 18-29

TICKFAW — Motorists can expect lane closures on Old Genessee Road next week as crews complete clearing and grubbing work.

Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller said the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has planned alternating lane closures using flagging operations on Old Genessee Road both east and west of US 51 starting Monday, May 18, and continuing until approximately Friday, May 29, during the hours of 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. each work day.

Crews will be performing clearing and grubbing operations in preparation for relocating utilities near the bridges, Miller said. Bridge replacement work on Old Genessee is scheduled to begin later this year.

Flagging operations are scheduled from Spookhill Road to Jacobson Road on the west side of US 51 and at a location approximately 1.1 miles east of US 51 (or .4 miles west of LA 1065).

Miller asks motorists to use caution traveling through the work zones and to be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
