East Lewiston Road Bridge Replacement Project Begins July 20

KENTWOOD — The long-sought E. Lewiston Road bridge replacement project is scheduled to begin next week.
Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller said the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development plans to close E. Lewiston Road between Wilson Road and R. Booty Road starting on July 20 and continuing for approximately six months as crews replace the existing bridge across Wilson Branch.
“The project will be completed using funding from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), also known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL). These federal funds are administered through DOTD with the parish contributing additional local funds to support the project,” Miller said. “While it will create an inconvenience for residents in the Kentwood/Mt. Hermon Area over the next several months, the community will truly benefit from a new, modern and safety-enhanced bridge.”
The $1.8 million E. Lewiston Road bridge replacement project is one of several bridge projects being completed across Tangipahoa Parish in partnership with DOTD and the Office of Louisiana Highway Construction this year.
All work is weather-permitting, and detours will be posted.
