Severe Weather Update: February 13, 2026

Here is an update concerning the severe weather threat Saturday night into Sunday morning. The general trends from yesterday’s weekly briefing are still applicable. The main information to relay this morning is to provide the Storm Prediction Center’s Convective Outlooks for Saturday and Sunday.

Changes from previous update:

  • The threat level of severe weather has not changed
  • The area of greatest threat for Saturday night has not changed, areas to the east of that area are included in the threat for Sunday.

WHAT: MARGINAL RISK of Severe Weather

WHEN: Saturday night, mainly after midnight, into Sunday morning.

WHERE: For Saturday night, west of a Poplarville to Destrehan to Houma line. For Sunday morning, areas to the east of that line.

CONFIDENCE: We are confident that there will be thunderstorms across the area and that a few will be strong to marginally severe.  We have less confidence in exactly where those strong/severe storms will occur.

Impacts: The main threats associated with any severe storms will be:

  • Wind gusts greater than 60 mph are possible.
  • Isolated tornadoes are possible.
  • In addition to the severe weather threat, rainfall of 1 to 2 inches is forecast.
