Southernmost Portion of Tangipahoa River Reopens to Public

Press Release from Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ)

BATON ROUGE — The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ), in coordination with the Tangipahoa Parish Government, is pleased to announce that the Tangipahoa River from Lees Landing south to Lake Pontchartrain reopens to the public TODAY, Oct. 31, 2025.

We ask that residents and visitors be mindful of crews still working in the river. These crews will continue cleanup operations to ensure that the river remains safe and open to the public until cleanup is fully complete. Boom operations will remain in place at select locations along the river as work continues.

Please note that a ‘No Wake Zone’ remains in effect from Hwy. 22 to Lake Pontchartrain, per parish ordinance.

LDEQ and Tangipahoa Parish appreciate the continued patience and cooperation of the public throughout this process. We will continue to provide updates as they become available.
