National Emergency Test Alert Planned Wednesday, Oct. 4

Be prepared for a momentary interruption for the National Emergency Alert System test on Wednesday October 4 at 1:20 PM to all active cellphones, TVs, and Radios. This test is vital to ensure critical public communications can be delivered.
WHO: The Federal Communications Commissions (FCC) with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will send this test alert
WHAT: The Nationwide Public Alert Test to all active cellphones, radios, and TVs in the United States. One alert will be sent to devices during a 30-minute timeframe.
WHEN: October 4, 2023, at 2:20 PM ET.
WHY: To ensure systems in the US continue to be effective to alert the public about emergencies, especially on a national level. While state and local emergency agencies have access to the same alerting tools for local emergencies, they are not issuing this national alert.
HOW: The wireless emergency alert (WEA) will send an alert to all active cell phones, while the Emergency Alert System (EAS) will alert TV and Radios
