As of 12:00pm (noon) today there were 31,815 COVID-19 cases reporting in the state of Louisiana with 1,310 patients in hospitals (157 require ventilator). There have been 2,242 reported deaths. All Louisiana data is available at www.ldh.la.gov/coronavirus.

COVID-19 impact on Louisiana budget becomes clearer today. The extent of how deeply the coronavirus outbreak has ravaged Louisiana’s government finances starts to come into focus today, when the state income forecasting panel tries to put the first official number on the budget problem. Big tech companies, including Facebook, Apple and Google, are telling their employees to stay home longer. Other businesses should consider making it a more permanent option for employees, too, because remote work can boost productivity by focusing on outcome rather than activity, widen the talent pool to beyond a physical area and boost worker satisfaction, Inc. reports.
Gov. John Bel Edwards and the Louisiana Department of Health on Friday outlined a plan for COVID-19 testing and tracking that would hire as many as 700 Louisianans to serve as “contact tracers,” interviewing and advising people who have tested positive to determine who in their lives could also be at risk. This week, LDH signed a contract with Accenture and Salesforce to manage Louisiana’s contact tracing process, using two Louisiana-based call centers with 100 percent Louisiana agents.
