As of noon (12:00 PM) today, Louisiana has 24,523 diagnosed cases, 1,328 deaths and 1,794 patients hospitalized (332 requiring ventilators) associated with the outbreak. There have been 131,987 tests completed. All data is available at www.ldh.la.gov/coronavirus.
Gov. Edwards again warns that reopening doesn’t mean normalcy. As he sets the stage for the gradual reopening of sectors of Louisiana’s shuttered economy, Gov. John Bel Edwards is trying to prepare people for an uncomfortable reality: Life isn’t returning to normal anytime soon amid the coronavirus outbreak. “We’re not going back to normal until such time as there’s a vaccine that’s available for everybody,” Edwards says. “We don’t know when that’s going to be… In fact, they’re saying it’s not going to come in all likelihood until sometime in 2021.”
