US 51, LA 10 in Roseland Area Reopen Friday, October 24

ROSELAND — As of 5 p.m. on Friday, October 24, the final two roadways that were closed due to the August fire at Smitty’s Supply have reopened to traffic.
U.S. 51 and LA 10 were reopened late Friday after being closed for just over two months.
Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller said barricades have been removed and traffic will be allowed through the area starting at 5 p.m.
“This is a day we’ve eagerly anticipated,” Miller said, adding that the opening of the intersection is “one more step toward recovery” in the aftermath of the August 22 fire and oil spill.
While the highways are open to traffic, Miller urged motorists to use caution, reduce their speed, and be aware of large vehicles coming from the work sites.
“There may be times when Highway 10 will be limited to one lane of traffic, depending on the needs of the current operations,” Miller said.
