Here is an update concerning the heavy rain threat today into tonight:
Changes from previous update: The area of greatest threat has expanded southward slightly
Overview:
WHAT: MARGINAL RISK to SLIGHT RISK of Heavy Rain that could lead to flash flooding
WHEN: today through tonight
WHERE: Most of southeast Louisiana and south Mississippi along and north of the I-10/I-12 corridor
CONFIDENCE: We are confident there will be showers and thunderstorms across the area. We have less confidence that any of them will result in heavy rainfall/flash flooding
Impacts:
- Rainfall of 1 to 3 inches is currently forecast. Locally higher amounts are expected.
- High rainfall rates will quickly lead to runoff with ponding of water in low lying areas and localized flash flooding.
