Ben Wayne Nevers, Sr.

State Senator Ben Nevers, Sr. is a friend to agriculture in Louisiana and service to his community, particularly a friend to the residents of Tangipahoa Parish of which he has represented for many years. Senator Nevers is a resident of Washington Parish, in which he graduated from Bogalusa High Scholl in 1964. He graduated from the Louisiana Technical College, Sullivan Campus and is also a veteran of the United State Army.

Nevers and his wife Ann, an educator, have three children, six grandchildren and one great grandson. He is a member and Deacon of Memorial Baptist Church. Senator Nevers has the background in and is an electrical contractor being President and CEO of NECO, LLC.

Aside from serving Louisiana in the State Senate, Nevers formerly served in both the Louisiana House of Representatives and the Bogalusa School Board. His impeccable public service and commitment to his constituents has earned Nevers accolades from various organizations and associations. He has been a champion of education, health, economic development, infrastructure, and of course, agriculture.

The Florida Parishes Arena has been an important economic development driver in Tangipahoa Parish since it opened in 2004, with Nevers being a constant supporter of the facility. Nevers realize the importance of this facility for not only Amite and Tangipahoa Parish, but for the Florida Parishes and the State of Louisiana. His keen interest in agriculture related activities are apparent by his involvement and membership in the Washington Parish Forestry Landowners Association and both the Washington Parish and Louisiana Cattlemen’s Associations. Senator Nevers also served on the Louisiana Dairy Producers Tax Credit/Refund Regulations Committee.

Senator Nevers takes his role in supporting the youth in the Florida Parishes very seriously. He recognizes the value of young people being involved in 4-H, FFA and like organizations. His staunch and aggressive promotion of family and youth activities has been apparent by his interest in agriculture, particularly assisting the Florida Parishes Arena. Senator Ben Nevers, Dr. is a shining example of what can be accomplished, while maintaining a firm foundation in family and faith.
