Here is an update concerning the heat threat for tomorrow.
Changes from previous update:
- The Extreme Heat Watch has been upgraded to a Extreme Heat Warning for areas along and south of the I-10/I-12 corridor excluding Baton Rouge and coastal Louisiana.
- The Extreme Heat Watch remains in effect north of the I-10/I12 corridor and coastal Louisiana.
Overview:
WHAT: Extreme heat conditions with heat index values of up to 114 degrees
WHEN: From 10 AM to 7 PM CDT on Wednesday
WHERE: For the Extreme Heat Warning, along and south of the I-10/I-12 corridor excluding Baton Rouge and coastal Louisiana. For the Extreme Heat Watch, coastal Louisiana and areas north of the I-10/I-12 corridor.
CONFIDENCE: We are confident hot temperatures and high humidity will occur tomorrow and could quickly lead to heat illness if precautions aren’t taken. We are less confident about the entire area seeing extreme index heat values up to 114 degrees.
Impacts:
- Widespread heat index readings are forecast to climb above 108 to 113 degrees for multiple hours.
- In a few spots, extreme heat is forecast with heat index readings above 114 degrees.
