DOTD’s North Hoover Road Bridge Project Opens to Traffic

PONCHATOULA—Detour signs have been removed and the North Hoover Road bridge is open to thru traffic.

Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller said asphalt work on the DOTD-led project has been completed; however, crews are scheduled to install thermoplastic striping the roadway on Tuesday, July 23, weather-permitting.

A final walk through of the project will be conducted with DOTD, Tangipahoa Parish Government, and the contractor once the permanent striping is completed, Miller said.

Closed by DOTD in late November 2023, the North Hoover Road project called for replacing an old timber bridge with a new concrete structure. The project cost an estimated $1.84 million.

“After all of these months, we know the public is very excited that DOTD has reopened the bridge,” Miller said. “We thank you for your patience during this lengthy construction project. Now that the roadway is open, we ask that motorists respect the residents living on this area and please adhere to the posted 35 MPH speed limit.”
