Culvert Work Resumes During Week of October 21, 2024

INDEPENDENCE—Culvert work resumes in earnest this week as Tangipahoa Parish Road and Bridge crews continue to make preparations for the 2025 overlay program.
Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller said three culvert replacement projects are scheduled during the week of October 21 in preparation for next year’s overlay process.
Scheduled for this upcoming week are:
  • Monday, October 21: A portion of West Blackcat Road between Antioch Road and LA 1063 (Robertson Road) will be closed between the hours of 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.
  • Tuesday, October 22: Brown Road in Ponchatoula will be closed at a location approximately 3,247 feet from the intersection of LA 22 starting at 8:30 a.m. Crews plan to re-open the roadway at or around 3 p.m.
  • Wednesday, October 23: Whiskey Lane will be closed at a location approximately 4,153 feet from the intersection of LA 1064 (Natalbany) between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.
No thru-traffic will be allowed on these routes while construction is underway.
