Cross Drains, Phase 2023 Overlay, Hoover Road Closure Highlight Busy Week Of TPG Road Work

ROSELAND—Tangipahoa Parish Road and Bridge crews will close a portion of Hill Street in Roseland on Tuesday to complete a cross drain installation.

Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller said Hill Street will be closed between Cuti Lane and North Street to allow crews to change out a cross drain in that area this Tuesday, June 27. No thru traffic will be allowed in the area while work is in progress.

Road and Bridge crews are completing a number of cross drain improvement projects across the parish this week. On Thursday, June 29, Faller Road east of Tickfaw will be closed at a point approximately 1,435 feet from the intersection of LA 442. Work is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. and continue through approximately 3:30 p.m., weather permitting. No traffic will be allowed in the construction zone while work is in progress.

Also on Thursday, Road and Bridge crews will be working north of Independence, closing a portion of Old US 51 at the northern intersection with Holden Circle for cross drain installation. Work in that area is expected to start at 8 a.m. and the roadway will remain closed until approximately 3 p.m. that day.

Signs will be posted on the day of construction.

Miller said Phase 2023 road work is progressing well as the month of June comes to a close. During the week of June 26, crews will be working in the following areas:

  • Paving: Straughan Nursery, Magee Street, Pisciotta Road, McManus, J.E. Joiner, Chappapeela Road, Pinecrest Drive, Northwood Crossing, Oak Meadows Boulevard, Martino Lane, Iverstine, and West Lee Hughes;
  • Milling/Patching: Tina Drive, Corbin Road, South Magnolia Street and 2nd Avenue, Miller, Loyd, Sun Perch, Bass Lake Trail, Hollie Lane, Pecan Drive and Pecan Trace, Twin Lakes Boulevard, Will E. Wright, Kay Drive, Happywoods Road, Jolane, Shafer, Lynwood Road, East Nickens Drive, Hickory Drive, Plum Street, West Snowball Circle, East Snowball Circle, and Snowball Circle;
  • Patching: Pinecrest Drive, M.C. Moore, College Drive, Cherie Drive, Iever Street, Burton Street, West Lee Hughes, Wellington, Tina Drive, Corbin Drive, Will E. Wright, Kay Drive, South Magnolia Street, 2nd Avenue, Jolane, Shafer, Lynwood Road, Miller, Loyd, Sun Perch, Bass Lake Trail, East Nickens Drive;
  • Dressing: Stateline Road, West Cutrer Road, Bock Road, Cutrer Road, Mandela Road, Pine Street, Wilson, East 8th Street, East Alessi Road, Catfish Farm Road.

In reference to the ongoing Hoover Road/Sisters Road roundabout being constructed in the Ponchatoula area, motorists can expect a single-day road closure this coming Monday, June 26, as the second cross drain is installed on Hoover Road. The closure is planned at a point approximately 150 feet south of the intersection of Hoover Road with Sisters Road. That closure is expected to run from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., and detours will be posted.

All work is weather-permitting. Miller asks motorists to continue to use caution in work zones.
