Buckle Up for a Sonic Cup – 2025 Click It or Ticket Campaign

The TRACC Coalition with our local law enforcement agencies are reminding motorists to be safe by buckling up in their vehicle as we kick off summertime this Memorial Day weekend. The National “Click It or Ticket” campaign is aimed at enforcing seat belt use to help keep you and your family safe. The goal of this national campaign isn’t to penalize people; it’s to motivate people to wear a seat belt for their own best interests.

TRACC is pleased to partner with a locally-owned restaurant, Pray Sonic and our local law enforcement agencies, to launch the “Buckle up for a Sonic Cup” outreach initiative for the second year. During this time, you could be rewarded with a free Sonic drink coupon if you are caught wearing your seatbelt. The coupon is redeemable at any Sonic location in Tangipahoa Parish.

“The SONIC Car culture is an atmosphere we take pride in. It’s our mission to contribute to the safety of our community,” said Lori Moresi, Marketing Director for PRAY Sonic. “We’re excited to team up with Tangipahoa Parish Government – TRACC Coalition for the second year to reduce motor vehicle injuries and fatalities.”

“We are grateful to Sonic for being a proactive community partner by helping us encourage others to “Buckle Up” by providing free drink coupons for those who follow the law,” said Bridget Bailey, Community Development Director for Tangipahoa Parish Government, and Liaison for TRACC. “It’s a fun way to kick off summer and bring attention to a simple act that can save lives on our roadways.”

The “Click it or Ticket” campaign will run through June 1 and law enforcement agencies will be taking a no-excuse approach to seat belt law enforcement, writing citations day and night. The national seat belt use rate in 2024 was 91.2%, which is good — but it can be better. The other 8.8% still need to be reminded that seat belts save lives, so “Buckle Up” every trip, every time!
