My name is Tonya Mabry, and I’m the Director of Housing for Tangipahoa Parish Government. The Tangipahoa Parish Government Housing Department, is responsible for assisting residents in finding safe, decent, and sanitary housing in Tangipahoa Parish. We also assist clients in Washington Parish and St. Helena parish.
Some of the services that our housing authority offers is the Rapid Re-Housing Program for citizens that were affected by the flood of August of 2016. We also provide emergency shelter grant for citizens that may be homeless or on the verge of becoming homeless. One program that really helps the citizens of Tangipahoa Parish is The Housing Choice Voucher Program. This program provides monthly rental assistance at a rent that the citizens can afford, based on their income.
Our most important goals at the Housing Authority, is to help tenants have to find a unit that is safe for their families, that is decent, and that meets the housing quality standards of the federal government.
