What Is TANGIAlert?

This is an emergency notification program that will provide residents with alerts about any hazardous event. Messages will be sent to residents on their preferred contact paths—cell phone (SMS/Text), home phone, email, and more—to ensure real-time access to potentially lifesaving information.

1. Creating Your Account

When you click you will be asked to create an account.

Sign up here in order to receive Important Messages and Emergency Alert Notifications from Tangipahoa Parish! Get alerted about emergencies and other important community news by signing up for our Emergency Alert Program. This system enables us to provide you with critical information quickly in a variety of situations, such as severe weather, unexpected road closures, missing persons and evacuations of buildings or neighborhoods. You will receive time-sensitive messages wherever you specify, such as your home, mobile or business phones, email address, text messages and more. You pick where, you pick how.
  • Select Language Preference
  • First/Last Name
  • Email
  • User ID (Use your email address)
  • Create a password
  • Confirm your password (retype it)
  • Phone Number
  • Choose mobile or Other(Click on Circle)
  • Group Code(Not required)
  • Click on the * I agree to Terms of Use.
  • Click “CREATE ACCOUNT”

2. Completing Your Profile

  • Address Type(required)
  • Street (required)
  • City (required)
  • State (required)
  • Zip (required)
  • Click “CONTINUE”

3. Confirm Your Location if Required

  • It might give you a suggested address location, and identify the correct address.
  • Click “CONFIRM THIS ADDRESS”

4. Confirm Your Phone Number

  • Choose the correct carrier (ATT, Verizon, Etc.)
  • Select “CONFIRM BY TEXT MESSAGE” or other preferred method

5. Sign up alerts

  • Select the contacts you want to receive alerts on (phone(s), email etc)
  • Choose your preferred language
  • Choose how you would like to receive TANGIAlert Emergency Notifications.
  • If you do not wish to receive it by Text, Voice, or Email, you can always uncheck the box 
  • Click “SAVE”

Functions like a weather radio, but with unique local alerts from emergency officials. These alerts and messages could include NWS severe weather warnings, homeland security notices, hurricane evacuation instructions, Amber Alerts, or school closings. The emergency information is sent out by federal, state, or local government agencies or by companies wishing to distribute information.
