EPA continues on-the-ground outreach in Tangipahoa Parish, with updated times and locations for community office hours supporting residents affected by the Smitty’s Supply fire. See the times and locations for today!For more updates please follow: https://www.epa.gov/smittys-supply-fire
- Recovery occurred at six recovery points on Ponds D-1, D-2, D-3 overnight.
- EPA is using multiple skimmers to maximize efficiency in recovery, including felt drum skimmers and rope mop skimmers. There were 25 skimmers operating overnight.
- An open water area of approximately 50X50 was observed for the first time on Pond D-3.
- A total of 13 vacuum trucks operated overnight at the ponds recovering oily waste. Total estimated volume of recovery based on 30 truckloads is 75,600 gallons.
- The Facility Branch continued decon operations of frac tanks for demobilization. Approximately six frac tanks were decontaminated overnight.
