Here is an update concerning the heavy rain threat today:
WHAT: MARGINAL RISK to SLIGHT RISK of Heavy Rain that could lead to flash flooding
WHEN: Mainly this afternoon and tonight, but could start as early as mid-morning, especially on the Mississippi coast.
WHERE: Slight risk area is for portions of Mississippi coastal counties and for portions of southeast Louisiana, south of Lake Pontchartrain, with a Marginal Risk for most of the remainder of the area.
CONFIDENCE: We are confident that there will be thunderstorms across the area and that a few will produce heavy rainfall. We are less confident in exactly where the greatest threat will be.
Impacts: High rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour or more will quickly lead to runoff with ponding of water in low lying areas and localized flash flooding.
